This is a wonderful book of short stories which the children will love! A great mix of stories and thoroughly enjoyable. Who would have thought our oak trees could have so much character, so beautifully brought to life in another fantastic collection of tales by a very talented author? Well done Barbara. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

This second book has an interesting take on the familiar; it also brings to life some of the lessor-known oak trees with myths and legends of the Savernake Forest. 'The White Stag' is quite literally a tale with a twist in the tail! These stories surround some of the oldest and most special trees in Wiltshire, in fact in Britain, actually in Europe!
I really encourage you to explore Savernake Forest and find your favourite veteran oak.
